Labyrinthine medinas, bluewashed Chefchaouen and Saharan stars.
Morocco is one of the few countries where you can wake up in a blue-washed mountain town, cross a High Atlas pass by afternoon, and fall asleep under Sahara stars the same day. It packs mediaeval medinas, desert dunes, mountain passes and Atlantic coastline into a single, fairly compact country, which is rare almost anywhere else in the world.
Marrakech, Fes and the Sahara look close together on a map, but the roads between them cross the High Atlas and open desert, and rushing that drive undoes much of the reason for making it. A well-paced Morocco trip differs less by how many cities get ticked off and more by how much time is actually spent in the medina, at the desert camp, or on the mountain road itself.
We at Travenza Holidays have been curating holidays since 2013, and Morocco is a destination where local judgement matters more than a fixed package. We know which riads sit in the quiet part of the medina rather than beside a noisy square, which desert camps are worth the extra drive, and which souk guides are worth hiring versus politely avoiding. This is our travel guide to Morocco for you.
